Holding the Earth Together

With a quarter-century of global use, DirtGlue® Regular (DGRp) polymer is a popular, proven soil binder and part of the DirtGlue family of polymers. DGRp is a powerful, high-tech soil stabilization bonding agent specifically engineered to bond soil particles together. The earth then dries to form a “crust” (like ice on snow) that strengthens the surface of the soil enabling it to prevent dust, sediment, and erosion for extended periods of time providing soil erosion control and embankment stabilization.

GES DirtGlue® polymers are proven non-toxic to people, pets, plants, fish and wildlife, and approved by many regulatory agencies including US EPA non-hazardous classification, DOT HAZ rating of 0, European Union REACH certification, California Water Board approval, US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) for use on SuperFund sites, FEMA, ATEC (US Military health and environmental standards), and many others.

DirtGlue® polymers feature UV stabilization and extreme water-resistance for long-term control (years, decades) and penetrates the surface binding with the soil to form a tough, durable, three-dimensional matrix layer of protection and soil stabilization. Combining superior film strength and adhesive properties, DirtGlue® Regular polymer is the ideal solution for dust control, erosion control and sediment control in non-traffic areas, stockpile capping, and stabilizing slopes and embankments.

DGRp has been used effectively to reduce wind-born sand in the Middle Eastern deserts, in Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind farms to increase green energy production and reduce maintenance, hillside stabilization for highways and aqueducts, stockpile capping for construction and mining, hydroseeding tackifier where it increases germination rates while decreasing washouts and rilling, and many other uses.

Application rates of DirtGlue® Regular polymer can be customized to meet any requirement. Application rates can be adjusted from less than 100 gallons per acre top over 800 gallons of concentrate per acre depending upon performance requirements and lifespan expectations. The application rate of the concentrate determines the longevity and water permeability of the material being treated. At low application rates the application will allow water to percolate through the DGRp crust, but the polymer itself is hydrophobic and does not absorb water. Low application rates are used in hydroseed/hydromulch applications as a tackifier that will prevent washouts even in the most severe weather. Heavy applications can act as a spray on tarp such that rain/water will sheet off rather than percolate. Stockpile capping at 275-300G/acre is sufficient for a year or more of erosion and sediment control. At higher application rates, the polymer crust can last a decade or more.

All DirtGlue® liquid concentrates are fully water miscible. Appropriate dilution rate is determined by soil type (fine/silt to coarse/porous) and moisture content. The dilution ratio for dry, porous soils can be 3 to 5 parts water to 1 part DGRp. For clay/silt soils the dilution rate can be 6 to 8 parts water to 1 part DGRp. Surface spray applications (dust control, sediment control, erosion control, stockpile capping) should not be applied when rain is imminent. Allow 24 hours curing time before an application is subjected to rain events.

Vehicle and foot traffic will disturb the DGRp polymer bonds and revert the soil to its natural state. DGRp requires curing temps above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. High relative humidity (RH) and/or low temps will extend the curing time.
