Industrial Strength for Proven, Powerful Success
DirtGlue® Industrial polymer (DGIp) was formulated for the purpose of creating a hard stabilized surface for paths, parking lots, tertiary gravel roads, etc. This emulsion is a powerful, high-tech bonding agent specifically engineered to bond soil particles together for road building.
GES DirtGlue® polymers are proven non-toxic to people, pets, plants, fish and wildlife, and approved by many regulatory agencies including US EPA non-hazardous classification, DOT HAZ rating of 0, European Union REACH certification, California Water Board approval, US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) for use on SuperFund sites, FEMA, ATEC (US Military health and environmental standards), and many others.
DirtGlue® industrial polymer is mechanically mixed into the road surface aggregate, binding with the aggregate to form a tough, durable, three-dimensional matrix that functions like asphalt. This matrix is sufficiently robust and durable, enabling the creation of great driving surfaces for vehicular travel, including roads, parking lots, golf cart paths, and driveways.
Test pucks created with DGIp test above 3500psi flexural strength. Military access roads have been built using DGIp, supporting tanks and super heavy-duty vehicle traffic. Housing development roads in Central America retain their natural soil charm but are engineered to last longer than asphalt. Golf courses enjoy creating naturally aesthetic cart paths; frisbee golf and bike parks / pump tracks have adopted DGIp as well.
Unlike other soil binding polymers on the market that use vinyl components, DirtGlue® polymers use a proprietary polymer additive / mix (with no vinyl components) that offers greater UV stability and much better hydrophobicity. This ensures each DirtGlue® polymer application keeps working long after other products would fail.
DGIp is supplied as a fully water miscible concentrate, and typically diluted 1:1 with water at the job site (for dry soils/stone fines, adjust for moisture content). It can be used on native soils, requiring no aggregate or stone fines to be mined and hauled, which saves project cost and retains natural look & feel. Colored stone fines can be used for aesthetics that far outshine asphalt and concrete.
DGIp requires curing temps >50°F and can take several days to a week+ to cure to full depth, depending on temps, RH, and depth of application. After 24 hours, foot and light passenger vehicle traffic may not disturb the set.
When combined with a proprietary powdered admixture, GES PolyCure™, the application dries/cures more quickly. There is also increased stability of the infill material and it enhances the already hydrophobic nature of DirtGlue® polymers in both their liquid and dry forms.
GES TerraDry® (TD) liquid concentrate can be added to the DGIp dilution when working with expansive (water-sensitive) soils. TerraDry® is a non-solvent based organo-silane product that represents nano technology waterproofing. TerraDry® works at the microscopic level preventing the water molecules from being able to enter whatever substrate is being protected. The penetrants in the TerraDry® chemically react with the substrate and provide molecular level hydrophobicity.
The benefits of using TD with DGIp are enormous. The use of “in-situ” cohesive and inferior soils saves time, expense, and resources. There is no need to remove tons of inferior soil and haul it away to a landfill. Additionally, the cost of purchasing and hauling-in aggregate is eliminated. Your project costs are reduced with roads back in service sooner with less disruption to the local infrastructure and population. And you can retain the natural look of native soils and sands.
