Desiccated, Dry Powdered Polymer
DirtGlueDry™ powdered polymer is a powerful, high-tech polymer specifically engineered to be mixed with sand to eliminate washouts and erosion between pavers, bricks, patio blocks, and flagstones in walkways, driveways, patios, etc. The added strength helps keep the pavers in place and helps prevent weeds and all types of vegetation from growing in the joints and eliminate insects such as ants.
DirtGlue® polymers feature UV stabilization and extreme water-resistance for long-term control (years, decades) and penetrate the surface binding with the soil to form a tough, durable, three-dimensional matrix layer of protection and soil stabilization. Combining superior film strength and adhesive properties,
DirtGlueDry™ powdered polymer is mixed into dry sand at a rate of 3% - 10% (by weight). Then spread onto the application area (i.e. sweep into the joints), and then water the application area. Once wetted with water it dries to form a firm, stable, flexible joint that resists erosion.
The best sand for paver joints is man-made (sharp) sand from crushed rock (aka “mason sand” “manufactured sand” or “M-sand”). This ensures sharp angular shape, rough edges so that the sand naturally interlocks. The DirtGlueDry powdered polymer ensures that the sharp sand remains locked permanently and prevents insect and weed infestation in the joints.
Curing time for DGDpp can be as short as 24-48 hours in hot, dry weather. Cool weather and/or high relative humidity (RH) will extend the curing time. To accelerate curing, DGDpp can be combined with a proprietary powdered admixture, PolyCure™. This also increases stability of the infill material and enhances the already hydrophobic nature of DirtGlue® polymers. Adding PolyCure powder at a rate of 0.3 lbs per pound of DGDpp decreases cure time, while it enhances durability and extends the project lifecycle.
